Acceleration Vs. Mitigation-Based Change: The Evolving Role of Change Management in a Volatile World

Historically, change enthusiasts and experts alike, focused heavily on the identification of a ‘burning platform’ to drive intentional behavior change. These fear-based tactics were used to mitigate change resistance when implementing digital transformation initiatives, introducing complex culture change, or driving M&A efforts to name a few. However, we are living in a time where change is constant, and employees are experiencing a volume and velocity of change like never before. Thus, our new normal must lend itself to a different approach in motivating and mobilizing employees if we expect change to stick in the volatile world we live in.

This webinar will both highlight and reinforce why change enthusiasts and experts must shift their change management paradigm from resistance management and mitigation to change adoption and acceleration. We will discuss how the perception of change management varies widely depending on the lens of the individual or, perhaps, where they sit within an organization. An executive project sponsor will offer a much different perspective on the value of change management than a workstream leader or project team member.

In this interactive webinarwe will:

  • differentiate approaches, outcomes and impacts when change management is viewed from these two distinct lenses (change acceleration vs. mitigation)

  • explore the advantages of viewing change management as a proactive accelerant in your organization and how it will lead to increased ‘stickiness’ and long-term sustainable success

  • discuss the ramifications of a reactive and mitigation-based approach to change leadership to employees, organizations, and the change management profession

Learning Objectives

  1. To recognize and differentiate between an acceleration vs. mitigation-based approach to change management.

  2. To define and explain the benefits of an acceleration-based change management approach vs. the implications of a mitigation-based approach.

  3. To identify the seven ingredients of an acceleration-based change approach and apply them to your next project or client engagement
